SAMARIA GORGE

Full-Day Samaria Gorge Trekking Excursion

Trek Through the Famous Samaria Gorge

Experience a thrilling full-day trek through Samaria Gorge, one of Europe’s longest and most renowned gorges, located 4,000 feet above sea level. This guided excursion from Rethymno will take you through the breathtaking White Mountains, ancient forests, and along rivers and freshwater springs, offering unforgettable views and encounters with Crete’s natural beauty.

Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up at 6:00 a.m., followed by a drive to Omalos in the heart of the White Mountains, where you can enjoy breakfast before starting your hike. The trail winds through a landscape of rugged rocks, ancient trees, and stunning vistas. Keep an eye out for the wild mountain goats that roam the area.

Accompanied by a professional mountain escort fluent in English, German, or French, you’ll receive all the guidance and support you need. Entrance and ferry tickets can be conveniently purchased through your guide (entrance fee: €5, free for children under 15; ferry fee: €13).

At the end of the trek, arrive in the charming village of Agia Roumeli, where you’ll have free time to relax, swim in the crystal-clear waters, or enjoy a meal at a local taverna. A meeting point will be arranged to collect your ferry tickets before boarding a boat to Sfakia. From there, your bus will transport you back to the starting point, arriving around 7:30 p.m.
